well, i couldn't wait any longer for someone to by my freeloader. i put it up for sale in the local paper for $9800 and had three calls in the month that it's been listed. not one person ever came to see it. keep in mind the kbb is like $10,200 or something like that. i probably could have lowered it and waited longer but i was scared to put anymore miles on it.

i had the transmission replaced at the end of october and since then only put 500 miles on it. my wife was driving around my disco for the last couple months but then a couple weeks ago the disco wouldn't start (i think it's the distributor cap, rotor, wires and plugs).

so we just decided to go look at trading it in. after looking a few used xterras we looked at a new jeep patriot. it was pretty nice and with a lifetime powertrain warranty it was an attractive buy, but the dealership wouldn't give us a good deal or good financing so we kept looking.

so we looked at suzukis and ended up buying a 2007 grand vitara. they got me 7.62 financing at 72 months with all of my freelander negative equity rolled into the loan.

so now my payments are higher and i'm going to be paying for another six years, but it's covered bumper to bumper for seven years! usually it just power train for seven years buy we were able to get the dealership to extend everything for seven.

the grand vitara is pretty nice. i know it's not as good as a land rover off road. it only has eight inches of ground clearance, which is lame, but it does have traction control, a two speed transfer case and a locking differential.

the only things i miss from the freeloader are the leather seats and the heated front windshield. i sure as heck don't miss it being broken four out of twelve months of the year. or having it leave you stranded in various parking lots. plus the nearest rover dealership is like two hours away.

so that's my story. the freelander is the worst piece of junk land rover ever made.

i still have the disco. just waiting for the ignition parts to come from rovers north. although, i am think about selling it. both rovers have been eating up a lot of my time and money and i'm running out of both now.

i'll miss it if i do sell it. the disco i have is in good shape. there's really no rust to speak of, which is insane. when the engine was running a few weeks ago, it was running like a top.

someday when i have enough money laying around to own a third vehicle i'll buy another one. the '95 and the '94 discos are the best.
