Keyless entry fob

Is it true that I have to show up at the Dealer to program the keyless Fob for my 96 Disco after the Li battery has died? Anyone have any experience in programing the system, or do I have to use my old fashioned key to unlock and disarm the antitheft from now on?

Just replace the battery. There shouldn't be any problem. There's no memory in the key fob - its hardwired. Last time I changed my battery I had to press the buttons a few times to get it going. No problems after that.

According to my manual, remove the old battery, then press each button for five seconds to drain any charge left, install new battery put fob back together, unlock car using the y key, and then operate the remote fob at least 4 times, that should do it, cheers
