Stansell and I are gonna be up at Lake Alpine on HWY 4 in the Sierra Nevada's in cali this weekend. Anyone in the area know any trails to run up there. We plan on doing Slick Rock road since it's the only one I know up there.

There is also a trail that parallels the North Fork of the Stanislaus at Boards Crossing. It is only 2 or so miles long and I have not done it but the area is beautiful and might be worth doing if you are in the area. Probably some fantastic scenery as the canyon upstream is rugged and beautiful. Take Boards Crossing Road out of Dorrington until you get to the bridge across the river. Go left immediatly past the bridge into the Day Use area and the trail begins out of the backside of the parking lot.

If you are staying the night the campground right there at the river is some of the best I have found.

Lance, we had a great time. Once again I earned the coveted "Shane Lesteberg recovery vehicle" sticker. Actually Shanes rig broke down (transmission) on the highway going there and I ended up driving everyone up. However, with only one rig up there, we only wheeled on Slick Rock trail since Shane knew it well enough.

Short version: we fished (no luck  ), we wheeled (no damage :D ) and we drank (no brain cells left  )

I'd love to Ho and I'm thinking about it. The problem is, I was an idiot and I leased the stupid thing. But as Rob has pointed out, I'll eventually have a new Disco after they replace everything because it breaks :D
