laptop battery life

How long should a laptop function using just the battery to type papers or watch dvds. I have an ibm t22 and was wondering what was normal. I was wondering minutes it should be able to be turned on.

According to this page, your T22 sould have a battery life of 3.2 hours. I have a powerbook that has about the same, and a PC laptop that does about 5. The only way to really extend the power life is to buy a 2nd battery.

depends on several factors. how old is the battery, how often do you end up draining the battery, do you have the a/c plugged in and your battery plugged in all the time. you should notice that your battery will drain a hell of alot faster if you're watching DVDs. If you just typing up a paper should last longer as the processor load would be reduced.
currenlty, my laptop battery lasts about 5 mins... well 2 minutes then starts beeping at me

isnt it a good idea to run your laptops battery down on occasion?
