Ok, my Dad is thinking about buying a used FL for his DD but he does not like the stance of them stock. What lift kits are available, just the DAP one? Also what is keeping me from going above two inches of lift? Also If I used some steel wheels (I know them make them but I don't remember where I saw them) and had some custom wheel spacers made could I run a 245/75R16 or at least a 255/70 with the two inch lift?

Also what is underneath those huge bubble bumpers front and back? If I were to take off all that plastic crap what would I find? And would there be anyway to fabricate a metal bumper that's smaller not so bubbly.

DAP lift is the only game in town- it works very well. Going taller would mean custom fabricating new drive shafts. You gotta stay under 30" for rubber or you'll be rubbing the spring perches and unable to fit the spare. Steel wheels are available from TireRack.

well with a independent suspension u r limited without changing spindles to a lowered version( don't think this is available) u will have to keep the a-arms even with the lift to avoid haveing the wheels leaning out.
look at the lifted suv's with is they have to lower the a-arm mounts to keep the camber correct so the truck lifts but the clearance doesn't increase, some acutally decrease by the time they but on the dual steering stabilizers to try and control the wacky steering they just caused. if he wants more than 2" look into a disco or RR. the rear diff is the weak link on a freelander to start with too much load and it's toast. i always chuckle when i go to the dealer and see that there is a stack of ird's, that is usually larger than any other part grp there.(except for d1 gas tanks)

There are some camber correcting bolts that will correct the camber after the lift. Stock, it has slightly negative camber, after the lift it is almost neutral. Still handles fine, just a little less spritely in the turns.
