Ok i have a quick question.
I know the 1996 4.0 had some issues with the Valve train that required a rebuild.
Can anyone tell me if there is anything else to look for on a 96? i have readup on most of the issues on the 94,95, 97 and so forth. Buy other than the Valves do the 96's have any other issues to look for. (it would be an Auto). Thanks

I don't know if there is anything specific to a 96 other than what you mention that wouldn't be in other d1s w/ a 4.0

Narzuhl, check out this webpage. Lots of good information. http://www.robisonservice.com/servicedep/rover_advice1.asp#disco

I have had a 96 for about 2 years now and have had just about every repair imaginable done on my truck. It has never left me stranded, but has had plenty of $$ put into it to keep it running. Here's a thread that describes my experience with my 96 Disco.

Understand that there are probably several people on this board who have 96s as well and have had almost no problems. I'm one of the unfortunate ones. Now that I have just about everything fixed, it's a joy to own and drive. Bottom line, have any used rover checked out by a LR mechanic, not just any mechanic.

Just my advice.
