LPG won’t start

Ok so I seem to have issue after issue which is killing me a bit but I’m guessing by the end of this I’ll be a fully fledged mechanic lol

I went for a drive, started up on petrol as I always do, let it run for a bit then went to switch to LPG and the vehicle cut out completely. Pulled over, gave it a few cranks and nothing. Switched again (to petrol) drove around the corner, pulled over again, went back to gas, same problem.
Back to petrol, straight to a servo, put $15 of gas in, turned the key and initially for a small kick but still, nothing. Sat there and tried a few more times. Still nothing. Drove home on petrol and waited a while (30 or so minutes) tried starting on gas, got a little kick, same as before but the engine just won’t start.

Anyone expierienced this before? Any troubleshooting I can do?
Thanks in advance,
Steele

I’ve recently changed spark plugs and leads. I have NGK plugs in.
And the vehicle ran perfectly fine on gas just yesterday. The only difference is today I fixed up a few vacuum leaks. Since then, haven’t been able to start on LPG

Start up on petrol let engine warm up switch over to lpg should work unless there’s a problem with the vaporizer? There could be a filter on the lpg line that goes to vaporizer that could be plugged or coked up. Also I believe the LPG system in plumbed in to cooling system to regulate temperature so liquid can vaporize to gas. Had a LPG forklift would start and run for awhile then stop and wouldn’t restart. I found a screen filter in the inlet side going to the vaporizer all plugged up removed it and started right never stalled out. By the way you might check the switch electrical wiring see if it works.

Yeah as I said in the OP, I started up on petrol, as I always do but when switching to gas, it just died on me. And how do I check the filters in the vaporiser line while there’s lpg in the tank? It won’t start pissing out gas will it?

You say there’s gas in the tank so you could crack open a line to see if gas is flowing. You could have a restriction maybe filter or faulty regulator etc.

From what I read about the IMPCO LPG system is you start off running on petrol and allowing the coolant to in the cooling system to warm up making sure your coolant level is full, then holding revs up on engine at 2000 switch it to LPG all the while your are stopped, if system is functioning properly should stay running.

This schematic might help you troubleshoot your LPG system

Yep tried that too, I’ve had it up to 2500 (maybe even closer to 3000) and still nothing. I’ll have a look at the filter today crack the hose like you suggested. Pray for me and my disco 🪩

Wonder why it was disconnected? Could there be another problem?
Could have happened (somehow) when I went through and fixed up some air leaks near the MAF Sensor. It’s not like it’s on there super tight. I ran it on gas pretty much all day yesterday (other than warming it up and a small run on petrol). Probs did 110km+ without a single issue so I’d call it fixed lol
