Just got back from a trip and must have hit some snow banks causing the front plastic skid plate or cover to pop off. Notices the small rectangular black panel gone and the front tow hook now exposed.

Anyone know the technical name for that piece? its black plastic maybe 30 inches long and 8 inches deep, you can notice it on the bottom bumper of any lr3 models... anyone know where I can buy a replacement or should i upgrade to a skidplate?

I think the technical name is piece of crap :D

Good time to upgrade to a proper sump guard (front skid plate), Mantec makes a nice one - you can get through Rover's North. Rasta 4x4 makes one too. Or you could go all out and get a whole bumper & winch kit.

Yeah i noticed those 2 sump guards... i read around and looks like the Rasta's the way to go (its supposedly stronger?)... so i guess no one's noticed any other brands making these parts?

im mostly only in my beaches deep sand and on mountain trips some snow... so ill probably skip the entire winch and bumper setup.... but any recommendations are appreciated.

thanks sideview.

Well, I have a never-bolted-on Rasta guard that would not fit to the ARB bumper - for sale. It is NEW though so no crazy deals, discount yes, not a give away though. Could be easily painted by you but it won't rust anyway. It's pretty cool really, nice double layer, looks well made for what it is.

Well, you're in Raleigh and so it the part so my preference is to not have to pack and ship it.... you may not know this but all the Rasta stuff is aluminum, and aluminum is silver ;)
I'm not in town but could arrange pick up through the neighbor if you like.

It was about $500 and includes mounting hardware.

You're right, the other plates cost a lot more than that one. I got it from them anyway so whatever their price is was mine.
