Trying to hook up a pop-up camper to my 2005 LR3.
Have all lights brake, turn signals, and even flashers and door unlock signals... but no tail lights.... what can I do?

There is a little converter box that converts the tail-light and signal-light signals into the same bulb (1157). Not sure of a part number but any auto parts store should carry it.

How are you going about the wiring? Are you just piecing it together or did you get the LR wiring harness?

Pep boys has them, U-haul does also. If you are pulling anything with more than 4 side marker lights you should get a "power convertor." It will not overload the lighting circuit and mess with the computer. On the LR3 or any rover, you really should use one of these:

Different sizes are available depending on the expected lighting load on the trailer.

Buy the LR3 trailer harness. It is worth the cost and makes a neat installation with a 7 pin and a 4 pin connector mounted in the bumper. I used the adapters on my 99 and 2000 Range Rovers and on the 99 Discovery II and bought the factory harness for the LR3. I will use the factory harness from now on.

YOU DO NOT NEED A CONVERTOR. I have been pulling my 2006 Starcraft pup up since last June. Here is what you need to do:

1) Buy the LR3 trailer wiring harness (install it yourself- 1.5 hrs)
2) Buy a prodigy brake controller (mount)
3) Connect prodigy brake controller with Ford F150 pigtail to connector under steering wheel and your done.

LR3 is a great tow vehicle.

You're right, with the Land Rover harness you do not need the converter box. But if you're hard wiring a pig-tail to the system, you do need the converter box.

The LR3 harness is a convertor. it includes the relays and the fuses are already installed. I suggested the convertor becuase they accomplish the same goal, isolate the truck wiring from the trailer wiring and loads, for 1/3 the cost.

I still would recommend the LR3 OE harness if the $$ aren't an issue.

I also LOVE my Prodigy controller. It is by far the smoothest I have ever used.
