You're just not looking in the right places. The adds always say "it has a misfire" "it overheated" but never it needs an engine. You read between the lines. They try to make it seem like a good mechanic can get it going by rubbing his dick on it.
I have been looking a lot and those kind of ads are rare. I can read between the kines very well.

Feel free to forward any to me as I am actively looking.

Shorten oil change intervals, preventatively replace crossover pipes and the SCV6 isn’t a bad motor. See plenty of facelift LR4’s on the road still. It’s overkill but I do every 6 months/5k mile oil changes on my D5. Prefer the power delivery over the 4.4

I have a coworker with a 2012 that may dump it soon, doesn’t need a new motor, but needs control arms and a few other parts.

But you WANT a 2012-13 ;)

Honestly, with the 8 speed, the V6 isn't much worse off than the V8. Just not as peppy or smooth. That, and you HAVE to find a HD package V6 because LR nerfed the base V6 with AWD

I could not care less about the engine since I am looking for a 2016 with toasted engine and good condition otherwise. 75k or less miles.

Curious, why a toasted engine? Knock on wood, hopefully that's hard to find with such low miles.

I will put an engine in it.

The point was, you read a lot of horror stories about the timing chain and coolant pipes causing engine failure and people giving up, but those vehicles seem elusive on the market. I have seen some really good single speeds, but those aren't candidates.

Probably just going to take a lot of time to find.

If one has a toasted engine it probably ends up in the junk yard, not for sale. Not a lot of people want to go through a sales process on a toasted engine car so they just put it in a junk yard.

Not sure I agree, but have some alerts at local places. Most I see in junk yards are not engine disasters, but accidents and are partially stripped already.
