So I just picked up my new to me '66 Series IIa FFR. I'm trying to figure out if it indeed has an overdrive.

The lever has two forward positions. I engaged it while in 4th, but it didnt do anything noticeable. The truck also hasnt had a tune up in 20 yrs....

Any thoughts? Is it a PTO?

That is where the overdrive lever is installed - but then the OD might have been removed for one reason or another. (Some become 'screamers' and get tossed - or resold....) The OD isn't that noticeable - but it will reduce engine RPMs by 27% whilst maintaining the same road speed - like you can go 55 mph while turning 2700 RPMs as opposed to 4000.... Should be fairly obvious underneath: it's a volleyball sized lump slung off the back of the transfer case....

Cheers

Odd that it look like its coming out of the seat box. I always see them coming out the side of the tunnel cover. Looks kinda like there's a patch on the side of the tunnel cover right there.
