Hi all, just bought (well 4 months ago) 98 D1 with 80000 miles and so far love it. Had a series IIa 88" a while back and have always loved the Disco's. Before this I was a Jeep guy. Still have a Wrangler, that I going to sell. I was pretty heavy into Jeeps as I have had around 9 from flat fenders ( my old cj3b http://www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3B/Owners/Charnok.html )to GCs. But I love LRs and hope to get involved with them as much as I did jeeps.

Welcome! I also have a 1998 D1 (Henry). The love of my life ;) I too have owned two Jeeps and two RRC (SWB/LWB). 80K miles is when things like the fuel pump can go and the 02 sensors..Keep your eyes open! Melissa

Welcome, Adam :D

Like you and Melissa, had/have Jeep(s) prior to my new favorite 4x4... a 98 Disco I with 60k. I think you'll find most people on this board very helpful, as I have. Don't worry about the misplaced post, I'm sure it will get moved for you.

Thanks for the replies. Roverchic what else have you had gone wrong or what else should I look for? I just had my alt. go. I do have some rust starting, a slight shimmy at around 70 mph, and the lifters started tapping loud one day. I changed the oil after doing a oil flush and everything seems ok. I really love this truck and want it to last for a long time.
Thanks again.

Watch for the water pump and the thermostat. I stressed the fuel pump, because when she goes she goes. Mine went out @ a truck stop luckily it turned over but that was a scary 45 minutes! LOL! Run a good thing of Sea Foam through the intake as well as the gas tank. This should help. Watch the cats too as well as the y pipe assy.
