Hello.....I am new to this site. I am hoping to find a few anwers and make some new online friends.
I bought a '95 discovery last week to drive back and forth to work. It's an easier vehicle to load my children in as opposed to my big Ford Powerstroke.
I have a couple of problems with my new purchase:

1. Both rear windows are inoperative.

I have read somewhere today that this is probably a bad solder in the ECU behind the glovebox. IF so, is there a picture or diagram of the solder that I should repair? Or should I just look for the defective solder and go from there?

2. MY antenna is missing......I can probably get a universal one but I'll keep you posted on this one.

3. My SRS light is staying on.......is this something that MUST be inspected by the dealer.

4. Also, I am in the market for a good repair manual as I have always done my own maintenance. Which manual is the best.....Haynes...or??

Thanks in advance for your advice

Jimmy

Rear window fix

The above is from the tech link at the top of the page.

SRS issue is dealer only if I recall correctly.

Manual, you can either get the Haynes, LR factory (if you can find it) and or the RAVE CD which every swinging salesperson on ebay I think is selling for around $20. Be careful with order the RAVE CD via Ebay though make sure that it states RAVE CD in the AD or they may try to send you some bogus troubleshooting guide (this sucks - I know I own it).

Hope this helps.

Ive heard that after 113k?? miles the SRS system needs to be checked out by a pro with a special scanner called a "testbook". I considered taking my SRS light out, but I dont feel like screwing up my gauge cluster.

I just received a Haynes hardback manual I bought from the UK for about $40 shipped. It seems to be pretty good aside from the switch of the steering wheel, etc. I also bought a RAVE cd on ebay for about $10. I really like the RAVE cd. It is a little more detailed than the Haynes.

Good Luck,
Mick

Thanks Guys!! I fixed the rear windows today. I pulled the ECU from the box and found the defective solder. What a save! Thanks again.

I think I'll buy the Haynes and the CD for starters. This may get me updated.
Today I :

Repaired rear windows with the ECU solder
Replaced the missing Antenna with a universal rubber one.....spliced the wires together
Replaced the rear muffler with a straight pipe and elbowed tailpipe.

Now.......I have to figure out how to fix the sunscreen for the sunroofs. I have one in the front and one in the rear that have the clips broken. So needless to say, they stay retracted. I don't think the dealer sells a clip except for the whole assembly which i don't need. I am going to try some engineering tomorrow to see if I can come up with a fix. Any Ideas for replacing just the clips?
