Keep up on the maintenance and buy an extended warranty.
Average for me is 14MPG

Lets just say...with 25 gal on board, if your dealer is more than 250 miles away, you'll need a NATO can to get there! :D

...driven smoothly these pigs can sometimes eek out 17-18 in regular driving. romp on it and you'll be in single digits. kit it out with lifts and racks and these other cats here will tell you, you'll be in single digits.

enjoy your new wheels!

Why is it the first thing people ask when they get a new Disco is...what kind of mileage do you get?! It's a LAND ROVER, 4wd that weighs thousands of pounds!!! What do you expect?!

Ok, sorry, not picking on you personally...

Enjoy the Rover...they are the best vehicles in the world (in my humble opinion)!!
Oh, and I'm averaging 13mpg on the highway.

I was more curious, that's all. I know the sales man was lying when he told me it will do 19mpg. Just wanted to see what other owners are getting. 12-14mpg is not bad, my boat gives me only 1-2 mpg.

I do plan to maintain it but this rig will probably spend 1/2 its time on the trails! ;)

13mpg on hwy Susannah?? Holy crap! Are you ahead of the sound barrier?? Is your hair on fire when you do this?? LOL

deltadude388 - mileage will vary from truck to truck depending on how old, driving habits and what kinds of accessories you have on it. Mine is stock with a few modifications to it but nothing fancy. This summer I've seen city mileage from 12.5 mpg to 15.7 mpg (this only happened a couple times) and on the hwy I've seen anywhere from 16 mpg to 20 mpg so as you can see, it varies.

Enjoy your new truck and don't worry if it leaks. That's normal. :D

Buy extended warranty...make sure that maintenance work is kept up perfectly....and start putting 20-30% of every paycheck you make away for when you hit 100k on the old odometer!

I hope those Brits would have stopped the leaky fetishes with the 04' models.
It's one solid ride, not as fast as my ML350 but sure feels a lot tougher and heavier.
Anyone in the SF area have any wheeling trips, drop me a note.
thanks all

definetly get the extended wrnty... i paid about $3K for one on my D2 and it has already paid for itself in repair bills from the dealer. definetly keep up the maint... my dealer told me last time i was in with my D2 that if you didn't keep up on the required maint. schedule that the wrnty company could refuse to pay for repairs -- probably just the dealer feeding me bull-shit. needless to say that i am "behind" on my scheduled maint.... whatever... ENJOY your new ride man - i wouldn't drive anything else - they're the best in the world!!!

BTW i get 13 MPG average with my D2 (it has ACE) -- get 17 MPG average with my D1. just drive easy and you will get OK milage - no reason to ring the shit out of 'em anyway, won't get you there any faster... it just makes more noise. ;)

deltadude, there are a number of guys in the bay area. I was thinking of Hollister Hills when the rains start to fall. Hopefully we can lure some of the bay area guys down here for a mud rally. I am itching to get Lance Doyle down here with his Greg Davis bumper installed so I can check it out. ;)

I was just busting your chops! Welcome to D-web (and I'm usually the nice one around here!)

I'm getting about 13mpg pulling a mountain everyday, commuting 60 miles round trip. It was about 12 during the summer with the A/C on....14.8 on my best day! :) Now I'm pushing my husband (who has a 92RRC) to get an 04 Freelander for my commute...yeah, they get like 20mpg  WOW!

I DO drive it like I stole it....always run about 75-80 on the interstate....but she likes it. Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned so far....92K and counting. (KNOCKING ON WOOD)

Enjoy your Disco and definitely post some pics when you get her dirty!

i hear we might get a sprinkle sunday or monday... albeit wont be enought to classify as a "mud run"... its a change in weather in the right direction

Hey Jacko,

I drive both a 95 DI and a 01 P38 not that either one is a 1 to 1 comparison... interestingly both my DI w/3.9 and P38 w/4.6 get around 14mpg... which kind of sucks when gas is $2.58 here in the Bay area... and when you commute to work...

are the days of $34 p/b oil gone?!?!? i heard that the going rate for oil is now $54 p/b what the F is up with that.....

Trust me, I drive my cars pretty darn hard! I give it good oil, maintain well and beat the crap out of it!! It's almost like a love hate thing! BUT, I always try to keep the body/exterior like new. Gas is expensive these days, in the Bay Area especially and I think the prices are here to stay. Jusy gotta find ways to deal with it. Am cutting back on all the expensive dates with the girlfriends! :D

Well, if I can keep my Disco out of the shop I'll be up for a Hollister Mud Run just about any weekend. Can't wait for some moisture out there.

They don't get great milage, but you can sometimes go weeks...even months between fillups. That's when it will be broken in the driveway!

Seriously, though...congrats on your new purchase. You will hate it and love it all at the same time. I swore I would never get another, then swore I would never get anything else all in the same week!

I got 19 mpg once. Usually 10-13. Don't know where the 19 came from.
