D Chapman, 22-28pisi is totally reasonable pressure range to run on 18" rims and 32" tires. For example, here is a shot of my Nitto's at 24psi (the same size as the Coopers at 286/60/18).

Can you explain to me why? Sure, it's better than 35psi, but at 22psi, what's the point?

The sidewalls flex too much to go lower. I keep mine at 40/42 for on-road. At 36 where Discount tire set them, they looked like they were going flat. The 18" wheel doesn't help. I don't think they offer an E load range on the 18" Nittos in the LR3 size. The BFGs I had on my 04 were the E range and they were pretty stiff. When I switched to D range on the next set there was a big difference (well, plus MT vs AT). D was plenty for the vehicle weight, but I never liked the way the sidewalls bulged at normal pressure.

I guess his point would be that the LR3 needs all the help it can get, especially for us unfortunates without the rear locker. :)

Hmmm...good to know. Thanks! I think I will wait until OffRovering Boy comes back from the Great Divide and see how he liked them before I mount mine. He will have about 3,000 miles on them by then.

I was also on the Off Roving trip(Wow what a great time) I switched from the Nittos to the Coopers for the trip. I found they didn't feel as sturdy on the hwy (70mph) as the Nittos, but really performed well off-hwy. They are a more aggressive tread tire, stickier to the rocks then the Nittos. (I do know one person during the Rally had some sidewall issues, but that could also be just wrong line selection.) Now, I am just comparing them from different trails. I had the Nittos in NC in Uwharrie and Tellico. Daniel, Rocky Mt. Loop and #4 trail in Tellico as examples. No true same trail comparision, but the Nittos slipped a lot more then the Coopers did on similar terrain. You can feel the difference of the tires in the grippy feel of the Coopers vs. the Nittos. Both are great tires but I could see the Coopers wearing faster. If you do more hwy driving Nittos are a good pick. If you want more grip off-hwy I would pick the Coopers. They are the tire of the moment.(Until BFG releases there MT and then we all know who should win that comparision, A certain trainer had them in Uwharrie w/ me and they just grabbed everything.) Although this is not apples to apples either since one is an AT and the other is a MT.

I noticed a world of difference off-road with the cooper STT's, but I have to agree at 70mph they feel unstable untill you get to about 80mph. Or atleast that was for me.
