No fuel preasure

I was driving my 1998 D1 on the freeway, when it suddenly lost power and slowed down to about 35 mph. At this point my truck died. It started back up and gave me about a mile before shutting down again. I managed to get it to a Honda specialized shop and there, we were able to test the fuel preasure to find that it would start, but shortly after, shut down because of the lack of fuel preasure. The Honda mechanic told me it was a bad fuel pump. What should I check out before paying $250 for a new pump? Any possible easy fixes I should look into?

Thanks,
Brook.

Hello Brook. My fuel pump just went about 5 weeks ago as well on my 1998 D1. However I was only having a problem getting the Rover to start (as it was starving for gas). I might try the fuel filter first ($10) before you dive off into the $200 pump. Good Luck. Melissa N

Thanks, I did change out me filter a little over a year ago. Could they go bad in that amount of time you think?

a bad tank of gas can gum up the filter.. makes sense to start there. also its easy to check to see if there any simple voltage issues at the pump too.. do the little things before jumping into a new pump that you might not need.

Brook I'm with the rest. change the filter I change mine every year cause I had the same problem you do on different vehicle. Filters are cheap And you can do it yourself if need be.

My D1 did something like this not long ago. Turned out to be moisture on the ECU on the passenger fender. Let it dry out, and all was well.
