I bought one and love it. I haven't put it side by side with a SD rack but I'm sure the fit and finish isn't quite as good. The welds are good just not as pretty as some. I loaded it down with a lot of weight with no problem. I added made aluminum flooring for it. :)

I've got a buddy who has one... I think it looks like a homemade shit fence. It's strong and all that, but the welds look like ass. The brackets that fasten it to the rain gutters are also shit--it's a folded piece of metal; whereas, the LR (SD... whatever) is contoured to fit the rain gutter much better. Also, the hardware that came with his was zinc (not stainless).

But, this was about a year and a half ago... perhaps they've improved... I've not seen one of late.

Must have improved, mine fit great. the powder coat is good. The welds were not the best looking. I couldn't find a factory one nearby and that guy was a few hours drive away so I went and looked at it. For $589 it seamed like a good deal. It is strong I know from experience. I was going to go without a rack because I didn't want to spend over 1k for one because I plan on getting a d-90 and can't switch it over to that. ;)

I can relate.

I got lucky and stumbled upon a sweet deal. This guy in our club had a rack on his DII... from the factory. Anyway, his wife drives it into a parking garage and bends in the top. Insurance company comes out... gives him a new one. Dood doesn't even install it and sells it for $800.

Well... I buy it... $800 is a lot of coin.. but it is brand new...

So... I go to get it. Well, dood still has the damaged rack and throws it in with the deal. So I have two racks. The damage was very minimal so we fix it... good as new. I sell it for $300... which was a sweet deal to the guy I sold it to... so ultimately, I paid $500 for a brand new LR(SD) rack. Right place, right time.

My point: I couldn't drop that much $$ on a rack either.

Nice Bill! I found some guy on a local classifieds section who had one on his DII for 3 months before he decided to take it down and store it.. He wanted 975 for it, but I got him down to $800.. still a good deal I think.. especially since I didnt have to deal with shipping it!

Yeah, definitely... I agree. I was prepared to pay the $800 for it... just got lucky when I went to pick it up and he threw in the other one.

And yeah, I borrowed a friends trailer to pick it up. Having to leave with two once I got there, I simply put the new one on my rig in the street in front of his house and put the other one on the trailer. I don't know what it costs to ship one, but I would assume it ain't cheap.

You both got good deals I wish I could have found something like that! This one will do for now. the flooring I put on it really adds to it. from a distance you can't tell it apart from other brands. I'm sure you guys could find differences in looks and build quality. now if I can just find that $300.00 front arb air locker. :D

Well... if you find more than the $300... I could use a few dollars for a Power Tank!

I'll try and find us a package deal, locker and air tank. LOL I did see the NWP front bumper and wasn't quite as impressed. In fact if I had it on my disco during the last few outings it would probably have been damage severly.

I like my NWP rack

The welds aren't the most beautiful I have seen, but it does the trick and I am not picky. I drove this thing through what can only be described as the jungle yesterday and it got the crap beat out of it but it did not flinch. I have loaded it down with all kinds of stuff and it takes it all. Personal opinion only. . . it is a great product for the price. Mine is the first one that he built from the "offroad" series in that it has the light protector bar. That thing is a must when it comes to putting expensive lights up there and then taking out tree branches without hesitation.

I would buy one again.
