Odor Removal

If anyone has any suggestions beyond my description below, I would greatly appreciate it.

Not having a pick-up, I loaded up some bags of grass clippings and other assorted yard debris into the wife's Discovery to take to the recycling center. One bag had been sitting for a week (not inside the truck!) or so and leaked some very lovely smelling liquid which got on the carpet in the rear compartment near the hinge of the rear door. I've spent the last 24 hours or so trying to soak up what I could, then followed the instructions on a bottle of Resolve carpet cleaner. Additionally I have removed rear door sill piece to get under the carpet to the foam padding. The foam didn't soak much up, and only right along the edge.

The smell is greatly reduced, but still there. I'm very confident that I have gotten rid of as much of the offending liquid as possible (judged by the color of the towels as they have been soaking up the liquid, then Resolve). I'm pleading for any ideas to help end the stench. Any ideas beyond continuing the Resolve treatments? I've got a Fabreeze-like product (the Clorox version), but I'm hesitant to use it because I haven't been happy with it on other applications.

Any help would be great,

Kit

I noticed a smell in my truck recently. It turned out that I left a potato in one of the storage cubbies after I went camping. It was black and rotting. Let me tell you, it STUNK! I did the same thing to clean it up. Resolve then I used some Fabreeze. It worked well and no more stink.

Get a shop vac and a couple gallons of water, pour the water on and around the area, let it soak in and then suck it ou, make sure you use alot of water so you can really flush out all the smeel. Do that a couple of times including cheking for water under the carpet. Pull aal the water out that you can at the end and let it dry out with the back door open and a piece of wood or something under the carpet to lift it a couple of inches. Once it is dry if there is any smell left use some Lysol spray , cover the area good and let it dry, you should be fine then.

Go to your local supermarket or home improvement store and rent a Rug Doctor for a day, plus buy a bottle of shampoo. Will cost you about $30. Make sure it has the upholstry attachement. Treat your truck to a complete carpet clean, and go over the seats at the same time.
I own a rug doctor and use it regularly on 4 vehicles, believe me it will get out any smell, stain, etc.

Yup, Natures Miracle is the ticket. Get it at a pet store. Its an enzyme.

Then use Ozium.
