Oil Coming from Exhaust

Quite the series of unfortunate events.

Last post I made, we fixed an air/fuel mixture issue and celebrated the completion of my engine install. After that, I drove that 99 D2 from Connecticut to my next duty station in Colorado. She made it 2000 miles... then some dirtbag cut off my catalytic convertors.

Upon inspecting my two now-separated exhaust pipes, I noticed that oil more or less pours out of my exhaust - guess I didn't notice when I had a full pipe. Has anybody run into this? How does the PCV system work, could be a clog there? I'd be hard-pressed to believe it's a valve/piston ring issue - I just rebuilt the engine, had the heads checked, and drove across the great U.S of A quite seamlessly.

As always, I appreciate the help guys. Let's try and keep her alive.

On your 2K trip did it use oil? With oil coming out of the exhaust pipe you would have white smoke while running. Your PCV could be suspect however the mileage you put on it would have triggered a warning light or something? Try removing spark plugs check the condition followed by compression test should tell you something.

Check the oil often on my trip, didnt lose anything; no smoke either. This must have been an issue that started once I got to Colorado.

I checked the plugs - fouled black. These plugs were brand new, put them in right before I left.

Are you sure it's not sooty condensation?
You know, it certainly could be - possible oversight on my end.

But I gave you the short note of the cat theft story... here's the detail:

The morning my cats were stolen I went outside (7 am, cats still attached). I started the car and it was bogging out - THATS when I checked the plugs (as I mentioned in my response to Boxster) and they were fouled. I replaced those plugs (she ran fine), went inside to make an omelet, came back 30 minutes later, fired it up... sounded like a Sherman tank (the guy robbed me in under 30 minutes... clearly good at his job).

Then when I saw so much oil coming out of the exhaust, I figured these problems correlate. It's clear I do have an accelerated spark plug fouling issue.

Were you able to take a pic or a sample of the oil coming out of the pipe. Maybe a piece of cardboard under the pipes or a metal tray to visually inspect what fluids are present.
