Oil drip from rear axle

I noticed that a drip of oil was coming from the flange of my HD GBR axle. I pulled it to reseal it and noticed that gear oil was dripping out onto the tire. Is gear oil supposed to flow out when you pull the axle out? I don't remember any when I installed the GBR's?

Thanks

Before you start changing seals. check the axle breather. It's very common for them to get clogged. When they clog, there is no room or the air to expand inside the axle when it heats up, so the expanding air pushes the gear oil out the path of least resistance.

You can unclog the breather by blowing compressed air through it (but remove it from the axle tube first)
