Oil Filter and Oil

Can anyone reccomend what oil and filter to use on the freelander? Thanks

Most will tell you 10W40 Full Sythetic Mobil1 but as long as you change the oil frequently you'll be good. You can look up the part number at the store on the parts manuals they have or at the register.

Land Rover has a very specific spec on the oil they approve in your engine, and not only brand but also weight.

In 5-40

Castrol Syntec,Quaker state ultra,Havoline Formula 3,valvoline Synpower And AGIP Synthetic PC.

And mobil one in the 0w-40 Weight.

I've had good luck with 5-40 Rotella T Syn and OEM filter in both rovers.

A lot of guys run Shell Rotella-T 15w-40 in their discos...

There are the oils that Rover Spec'd for that engine. I listed them. If its not on the list, Rover does not recommend it.

At the end of the day, its your engine, put in it what you want.

I use Mobil 1 0w40 and I do what Land Rover says by having my service intervals at 12,000 miles/12 months and it does great.
