Would OME Heavy Duty springs with a light load on the front end cause tires to cup?

The front tires were heavily cupped. I put them on the rear, and balanced the two front tires. The ride is still so bad that I am going to replace my tires. I want to make sure the root of the problem is fixed before I drop that kind of money on new rubber though.

I put an OME 2" lift in about 1.5 months before the cupping got bad. I was overdue for a rotation though, and have BFG MTs, so cupping is pretty common. I just wanted to check before spending the money.

Definitely check your alignment first and look for any worn components(shocks, tie rod ends, etc..). Tire balance and rim runout would be next on my list.

Craig,
Once you have your alignment checked stay on top of your rotationsat least every 5 to 7000 miles, otherwise they will cup.

I do rotate often now (since 2000), but even before I did all of my own work, I have never had a problem with cupping related to having a 1-2" lift. This is with BFG AT, BFG MT and Trxus MT.

"before the cupping got bad."

If the cupping were already started and you did not do a rotation, does that not imply that it had nothing to do with the lift?

I am assuming that it started before the lift. I didn't actually notice it until after the lift was put on.

Yeah, I normally rotate them every time I change the oil (3-5k). We were caught up with a long distance move, and I missed one rotation. At around 8.5k since the last rotation the cupping started (damn). To be embarrisingly honest, the tire pressure was low too.

I am pretty sure the whole problem is due to "user error".
