bruce,

if your time is worth anything to you, call GBR or Rovers North and order a new shaft and ancillaries...i've been down that road and in the end it wasn't worth the time i put into it.
plus, the GBR shafts are made with better/ thicker material and new spicer u-joints...

Marc,
Do you remember how much you paid for the setup?

I bought 5 RRC wheels to use offroad on my D1 and got them from a junkyard. I called about 5 places until one guy said he would get them for me, and next day I had 5 wheels with Cooper discoverers with 1/2 treadlife for $200.

My experience is the same, you have to go there personally and check it out. Usually you pull it yourself, but sometimes they do it for you. It depends on the yard. I like to go and walk the yard because you can find some jewels. I found my homelink system for a few bucks, and I've been using it for years.

My one experience with salvage yard was great. I was looking for a t-case to retro-fit my '03 t-case and sent out a mass email to some 50 or so salvage yards across the US. The ones that responded with Disco on-site, I replied back with a picture of the t-case with nipple and asked them to send me digital pictures of the Disco t-case they have.

I got a few good hits and ended up buying a used t-case from some place in AL with no issues at all.

The problem I am having is that living in CT,the Insurance capitol of the world, they wont let you walk around the yard because of liability reasons, understandable but unfortunate for customers

Be very careful walking around junk yards. I went to one back in the 70's looking for a rear end for our travelall and ended buying a deuce and half 30' semi.
