I went with my friend when was getting some new brake pads for his FZ1, and the dealer had a yellow 2003 ducati 999 sitting ont he floor and a red one in the back. It was surprisingly comfortable for a sport, probably the most comfortable one ive been on.
Anyone have any experience with these. It looks and sounds awesome and i can probably talk him down a bit more.

if i do deceide to get this bike, my 2002 F650 Dakar will be for sale. it has about 1500 miles on it. i think 6,000 would be a good proce for it. Nada lists 6465 as average retail. Anyone interested? its a great first bike, great trail bike and great city bike. I do a lot of highway ridign though so its not the best for me at this time. It ok on the highway and hits 103, but takes some leg strength to keep it steady at that speed, especially passig trucks on the NJ turnpike.

Thats my rant for the day.

I dont know about the Ducati, but if you sell your Dakar for 6k that is a excellent price. At least in Missouri. :) I just got a 2002 last month. Great bike not bad on the highway at 80 and under.

rick,
i've owned both Ducks and Bimmers.
and while my heart always lies with the Ducati's, they are a maintenance nightmare.
worse than a rover!
i had a monster and a 996 and both were wicked cool, wicked fast and craddled my crotch like a young Italian girl, yet both were just as hot tempered and pissy (much like an Italian girl).

the Bimmer, on the other hand, never missed a beat! maintenance free and ran like a top. plus much more lower back frendly on long rider. (even the monster, gave me aches over 100 miles.)

i'd say you're in a tough spot,
the spot where your desire battles over reason,
or in my case where the little head starts fighting the big.
i'd go for the Duck, cuz they are sexy, but i guess i'm a masochist
just plan to get some cardbaord for the oil leaks, and a good set of wrenches!

Lost-You need to get out and ride that Dakar more, its a great bike. Not as sexy as the Ducati though.

Leo/Lost-Have you been to www.f650.com yet? If not, great folks and a great technical FAQs section.

Marc, you summed up my dilema perfectly, desire vs reason.
