I've got a 5 speed discovery that has served me well in the past few years. I recently damaged the catalitic converter driving over some rocks and the check engine light is on. I just started my own business and can't afford to have it fixed. It's still running strong, but it's lost some fuel economy. More then likely due to the cat being banged up. Trans is solid, but I've noticed it kind of "chucks" between first and second. It could be a synchro has worn out, or just the way I drive. I learned stick in a bmw and moved on to a GTI with a short throw kit on it. So I could just be trying to get it too fast between gears. If I take it slow it's smooth; I adapted my shifting style to compensate.
This disco has been maticulessly maintained by myself and the previous owner. The pervious owner was an army officer and west point grad; it was his wife's dailly driver. It has 152,000 mostly freeway miles on it (97%). Regular services preformed. Oil changes, dif's and trans fluids tended to. The interior is a bit worn but still in tact, I added D2 cupholders to the console. Some stains on the carpets. Their is some rust on the roof under the two small windows. The rest of the paint is nice, despite some chips and scratches. No burn-through or buffer swirle; just nice deep black paint.
I was thinking of letting her go for $4700; but I'm willing to take offers close to that and will conider possible trades or partial trades. I would like to see her go to a good home. Some one that will make it the off roader I always wanted to make but never had the time.
