Problems after mud

We've got a first time poster here. I have a 1995 Discovery, automatic. I recently went through quite a bit of mud. After leaving the trail and getting on the highway the rpm was acting funny. I was going 50 mph and it was revving at 3000 rpm. The diff lock is off and in high, I made sure. It is like it's not shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. I had a mechanic look at it and he thinks it might be a valve body is sticking, or the torque converter.

Any insight??? Thanks

So do you count the shifts, are you in third or forth?
How long has it been since you serviced the transmisson?

Yea, I'm just guessing what gear it's in. That is what it feels like. I bought the truck in May of this year, so I havent got the ****** checked.

Thanks
