Radio removal from a Disco 1

I found the info I needed to get the right tool to loosen the screws on the head unit - the weird thing is that they just get loose and won't come out. This only lets me move the radio about 1/2 inch. Is there a nut on the back of these screws or am I missing something. Looks like it should be pretty simple.

I've never had the screws come out. Once they are loose the unit should come out. Just put your fingers into the area where you slide in your cassette. Then give a firm pull and the deck should come out. That is all there is to it. Hope this helps you.

Just stick a couple of your fingers in the slot and giver a nice pull. She'll squeel a little but she should come.

I had a label stuck to the top of my radio that was stopping it at about 1/2". A good yank, or running a steel ruler across the top of the radio while you're pulling might clear anything that may be catching.
