Rear drive shaft

I was looking at my rear diff and had my rear prop shaft unbolted from the tcase and the splined end fell out of the drive shaft. There were no marks to make sure I got it back in the same way and now I have a driveline rumble when I decelerate. I assume that I put it back in out of phase and don't know how to get it back in as it was before.

Any ideas on solving this small F/U?

I'm assuming you had no rumble before.
Are you sure it's in wrong? Some have an key way to make sure it only goes in one way. The rumble could be from a loose bolt.

If it really is out of phase then just pull the propshaft and stick it in a vise. You should be able to eyeball it to get it back in correctly. If it looks right when you pull it, rotate the slip joint 180 degrees.
Worst case you may have to try it a few times to get it right.

There was no rumble before. All the bolts are tight. I will have to pull it off again and examine it more closely. There have been no changes to the moving parts except dropping the drive shaft. The u joints felt good. I put a bungee on the prop shaft so it would not hang free since it would not lay on the ground because of the rear u joint, I wonder if it bound up on the rear u joint somehow and trashed it accidentally?

EDIT: I think the answer just came to me, the u joints on the front prop shaft are not in phase, the u joints on the rear are lined up with one another. When i put mine back together they are not lined up. This would definitely cause the rumble i am hearing.

SOLVED: The u joints were out of phase by two splines and so I corrected the problem. Problem sorted!
