I need some advice. Since the rubbers are split on all of the tie-rods and need replacement, I thought of relocating the stabilizer. I've seen a couple relocation kits, but would like to hear what models have worked well and which ones to avoid. I have a 1994 D1 and I think rock crawling is in my future.

If rockcrawling is in your future, replace the track and cross rod along with relocating the stabilizer. After bending several cross rods (very easy to bend), I went ahead and replaced them with Rovertym units, they are awsome:

I would also replace the tie rod ends with greasable ones, dap sells a complete set:

You can use a D90 Old Man Emu stabilizer with Rovertym's stabilizer relocation kit

The Rovertym kit was the one I liked the most. Glad to hear something positive about it.

Lucas,
if you are going to relocate the stablizer and you think you are going to start playing hard, make sure you install a new stabilizer also.

I'd stay away from those greasable tie rod ends. I have heard from a few different folks that they fall apart some times. Not some thing that you want a tie rod to do. I'd stick with factory tie rod ends.

I don't know about others, but I've been buying greasable tie rod ends from DAP since 1981 (for my Rovers and other peoples' I've repaired) and have only had one bad one, that froze up not fell apart. I'd say that's a pretty good record. I'll buy more from them when I need them.

I have the RTE steering stabilizer parts for sale. I have the OME dampner and the piece that mounts to the steering or tract rod, can't remember which. All you would need is the part that mounts to the frame and that is the cheapest part. Many people just make it. e-mail me if interested and I can e-mail you pics.

Jeff, Rover's North has a really nice kit including heavy duty tie rods, ball joints, DII OME steering stabilizer, and relocation mounts. It's expensive but it covers everything all at once. The stabilizer mount is welded to the steering rod. It's the best kit I've seen, Dave

I saw the Rovers North set-up too. I wasn't sure how it compared to the RTE set-up. I may call Rovers and ask.
