Well this is the first time I will be delving into the depths of a Rover V8 and it probaly won't be the last . The head gasket kit and head bolts are ordered from rovers north for $207. Just look for advice and sugestions on how to make this little experience a wee bit easier thanks in advance.

This concludes my current statment

renewing the head gaskets is a good way to get to know the engine. changing them is not complicated, just need to go about it in an orderly manner.

I would plan to do the job over two weekends - first weekend pull apart, let a machine shop do the heads during the week, then put it all back together the next weekend.

other hints, i recommend chasing all the threads, will make reassembly much easier and you get a truer torque when you put it back together.

as long as you keep all the parts organize as you take them off this is a very doable project.

Good luck, let us know how it comes out!
