Hey everyone. I am planning on purchasing this rack "BASKET STYLE WILDERNESS ROOF RACK KIT" ...My question is will I need to swap my stock springs back to the HD? I plan on adding the usual hi-lift and axe ~ maybe a tire to the rack but that would be all for extras on top. I am just concerned about extra weight ect ect with the suspension being stock and all I do not want to over load the Disco.. That could be trouble.

Thanks for the help.

Melissa, i thought you gave up on Henry.. :)

Unless you planning to carry lots of gear - you dont need HD springs. I somehow dont see you lifting 100s of pounds up there, and carrying around 4 people in rover at same time. Plus you dont add much weight to it either :)

So dont worry, just set it all up, and then if you ever feel like truck is sagging - just try to distribute weight more evenly, and only then, if it doesnt help - then you start thinking "damn, why i sold those springs" :)

"Melissa, I thought you gave up on Henry".. Ha ha that is soo funny. Now that I have a daily driver ( the Honda), Henry has whipped backed into shape. Amazing, go buy another car and the Rover is all of a sudden (non leaking and purring like a kitten). Hmm? I think Charles P in Texas was right the Truck does have a mind of its own.
Back to the Rack ~ Ok, then no need to swap springs ect ect. I did not want to have to do that anyway the cost and time involved. Eek! I was going to just swap with a buddy in Okc. But now that I do not need to even better. I wish I would have kept the Pink Springs. Oh well, story of my life. Living on hindsight...How's your D1? Mean green back yet? how about those cats?

Well thing on springs is simple, like i said - if you not planning to haul up there like 200-300lb of stuff (and i doubt it. Lifting all the stuff and then taking it all down can be pretty annoying at times :)), and if no tall loads involved (as in - kayak on its side or something to that liking) - its pretty pointless as stock ones been designed to be ok with about 7 people in there (5 + 2 jumpseats) which is pretty huge load. So if no lifting is in plan - just dont worry about it for now.

Glad to hear that Henry behaving better now :) Yes they do mind of their own, thats for sure.

Me Disco is getting whipped to shape somewhat - got those carsounds welded on yesterday. Poor dude in shop spent like 4.5 hours on them - so flat rate of 2 hours was on my side, just for once :) Old cats were seriously heavy and pretty darn scary in inside. So all ratting is gone and looks like running is improved a tad. Mean Green got me alternator yesterday so i will phone them up (they promissed 24 hours period on diagnosing and sending back) on friday, to find out what they doing - sending new one or fixed old one. I'd say new one is most likely outcome b/c old one been plain scary when it dropped dead. Till then i am driving on half-alive old alternator, charging battery up to full each night (thanks god i ponied up money at some point to get that vector's onboard charger). It takes about 5-10 min to get to office from place where i live, so its ok... If lucky - shall get new/rebuilt alt at end of next week. Still got some job to do till then, but hopefully it all will be sorted out by 11th, so i can finally go few more places in CO till snow hits.

I soooooo love your Avatar photo!

Come buy my rack, Melissa. You need to come down and wheel with me and Charles P. anyways. We're going to the Padre Island National Seashore next month!
