I asked a question awhile back about ther best way to wire up my lights on my roof rack, on my 98 D1. And I got some good responses, but other then running the wiring out of the roof rail hole, how else can I get power up there. I want to do it this weekend, so any more info at all would be appreciated. Thanks,

I placed heavy duty double-sided foam tape (home depot-red backing) on a clean windscreen. I placed my wiring side-by-side on the tape taking the time to be EXTRA clean about it. I purchased black "threshold molding" from HD as well ($5) and cut it to fit. I placed double-sided tape on the back of the molding and pressed it on top of the wiring. A sandwich windscreen, tape, wire, tape, molding. The side profile of the molding resembles a lightening bolt of sorts. The thin lip of the molding slides under the lip on the pillar of the windscreen. It looked clean to me. Check my pics under the photo gallery (Jack Edwards). I hope that helped.

I used rubber coated 4x12ga wire that you can buy at Home depot. It is black, UV, chemical, gasoline, and oil resistant. I used three adhesive wire tie blocks on the windshield tight up against the A pillar on each side and wire tied the wires to the block. From 10 ft away you don't even notice they are there. I overkilled my wiring to my Hella 4000's using a pair of 12ga wires to each light, hence 2 4x12ga wires. They fit nicely under the edge of the hood on my D2. The nice thing is that I can quickly unplug the lights and lay the wires under the hood when I need to remove the roof rack. Does this all makes sense?

If you just buy some SO cord from Home depot or the like its all contained in one unit. Then all you have to deal with is a black snake crawling up the pillar.

Is the DI pillar the same as the DII???

I have a DII and actually took the black plastic pillar off on the outside and ran the wires underneath of that, very nice looking when I got done.
