i just aquired a series 1 rear tub, doors/upper doors and bulkhead.
is there any way to identify its wheelbase from the tub or what year the tub might be?
i am thinking of building a coiler hybrid on a RRC frame, and need to start finding/buying the remaining body parts.
i was thinking of stretching the body to fit the 102" wheelbase, but not sure anymore what to do.

Series Is were originally built on an 80" wheelbase, 'cause that was the wheelbase of the vehicle the Wilkes Bros were copying back in '48. That soon changed to 86", and a 107" was introduced at about the same time. Circa 1957, the Series I 'grew' again, to 88" and 109", just before the Series II made its debut. When the Range Rover was being planned in the late 60's, it was originally called the "100" station wagon project." So...take your pick!

Built a hybrid myself a few years back and I shortened the frame. Not too hard to do, just gotta be precise. If you are going to build a 100 inch, its best to use the 109/107 tub and shorten it to fit the RRC/D1 chassis. Still not an easy task but it will look the best, if that matters of course. If you run a hardtop you will need to shorten that as well. Hunt around this cats site. Its got some pretty good info on it.

If looks dont matter, then you could do like Im doing to my latest creation. I left the chassis 100inch and cut the fenders/tub way out. not pretty, but it is an alternative. My build post is below, albeit a bit outdated.
