Shin Burner Repair

Anyone know (prefer within US) where I can get a replacement core (or have mine repaired) for a Smiths shin burner? Mine has a seam split and I took it to be repaired at a local radiator shop. Every time the guy tried to solder the seam, it just split worse.

My other option would be to use a Flex-A-Lite Mojave heater (http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProductDisplay/s-10101/makeId-8000123/p-8652/c-10108).. anyone try one of these yet?

I think I read somewhere there was another similar heater core that was adaptable - maybe an early MG??? (equally difficult to obtain in the US of course).
