Shock number for Series

I'm trading the conventional SIII springs over to parabolics and would like to take advantage of the extra inch or so of height this affords and fit new shocks as well.

I've been pleased with the Old Man Emu shocks on my DiscoI and was wondering if anyone knew what the part number is for the OMEs for a Series w/ parabolics.

OR...anyone running other longer shocks w/ parabolics that they're really please about?

Cheers,
Chris

It seems as though the two major manufacturers of parabolics each have their personal favorites. RM seems to prefer Pro-Comp and OME's in heavy duty situations.

I haven't checked TIC in awhile but I seem to recall that they liked Konis. I have TICs and use Bilsteins. I think it all comes down to a matter of personal preference.

If you're going to install RM springs give Wise Owl a call and they'll be happy to advise. These days, with the exchange rate being what it is, they may be quite a bit more reasonable than TIC or British Springs for that matter.

Thank you!

Paul,

Appreciate the info and even more so the link for Wise Owl. I haven't dealt with them before and have been pricing parts through Paddock Spares in the UK.

Much appreciated!

Cheers

If I had a million dollars...

they're not that bad!! actually its just the waiting period as the labor prices are really decent especially compared to other shops. and when comparing the quality of work, well worth the wait.

of course I'm prejudiced as I've been dealing with them for a few years now. :D

No...I never have a problem paying for quality. I should have written "if I had a million dollars I'd spend it on old LRs and give them to ECR to restore"!

I love the obvious attention to detail ECR gives. In the midst of attempting to rebuild my Series, I look at their website and think "Damn, mine ain't going to look ANYTHING like that when it's done!" :( And then I wipe the drool off the keyboard.

cheers

Chris,
unless you have found a manufacturer that is selling you springs that have a 1" over stock ride height its not a big worry about shocks. People claiming to have gotten 1 to 1.5 inches of lift are comparing it against old springs.

A pair of three leaf rocky mountains front and rear were .25" taller then a set of 5k old stock Rover leafs.

I would strongly recommend get springs and shocks from Rockey mountain. Besides mine, I know of about a dozen folks that have them and love them. I have just over 10k on mine so far and love them.

Best of luck,
Pete
