shocking experience

the other day while under the rover, checking to see if the rear main seal was still leaking oil, my arm touched the chassi and i could feel that i was being shocked. the car was running, and i could feel sharp pin like pains. never had this before, that i can remember, any i deas on what it might be?

Not good. Your chassis has a positive charge (should be negative) and you are grounding the charge hece the "shock" (tingle). You need to figure this out soon as this could be very detrimental. The short could be anywhere, but look where you last worked on electrical components.

I remember going out with our atv's and was parked under some power lines and everytime I touched the atv trailer I got the same sensation. It was weird. It took me a while to figure out what was happening. At first I thought that I was rubbing or touching a very rough part of the trailer and getting pricked. I finally figured out that I was getting shocked. I asked my dad why and he said it was due to the power lines over head. By chance were you parked under some power lines?
