I have 3 thermarest pads of varying thickness and size. I have yet to have a puncture in any of them and 2 of them are 13 years old. I make it a general policy not to walk on them with anything though, especially crampons. :D

I have had two different types of those foam things, never slept a wink on them and I can feel a pea though them. Big thu8mbs down for me.

And, if you have not seen the latest model year on the Thermarest, they just got better and more light.

The lightest pads, which happen to be my favorite, are the ridge rest pads. I believe they are made by the same people as thermarest, but are just made out of foam rubber. Nothing to break, weighs like 1/2 of what a thermarest weighs and super cheap and long lasting.
Yup, that's the exact one I mean. Have one & have used for yrs w/out issue
