Sparatic Rough Running (hesitation) HELP!

If anyone knows what I need to do please let me know.....

I have a 97 disco with about 116k miles and I am in the process of troubleshooting why my engine will "hesitate" while running at any given speed. This does not always happen every time I drive , thus there is not a set pattern of occurance, but when it does happens the engine drops in rpms every other second for a while. I started to troubleshoot by replacing/servicing the following:

1. new fuel filter
2. new spark plugs
3. fuel injection cleaning

the hesitation still happens after all of those thing where done to it.

Does anyone know what else could cause this hesitation?

i'm thinking VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). often happens around 50mph or so, but i think can happen at any speed. do a search and see if other people's experiences are close to yours.

Vehicle Speed Sensor is not the same thing as the ABS speed sensor is it?

If that link doesn't work, it is located under the "tech" section, scroll to the bottom of the list, under vehicle speed sensor.

It is different than the ABS sensor.

This could also be the fuel pump letting you know it is time to start shopping.

Let us know what fixes it. Mine just started doing the same thing, but only intermittenly. It also has triggered the infamous "Check Engine" light. I opened the hood and checked the engine, and it was still there.
I'm thinking my problem is plug wires, though. I can hear them crackling and see sparks at night. My Magnacore wires will be here in the morning, courtesy of UPS and RoverConnection.
I'll let you know if it fixes my problem.

Yep! My problem is solved. It was the plug wires. They were so brittle, two of the leads broke off in my hand.
So, I'm running with the pack again.
WOOO-WOOO!
