While making left or right hand turns, a whine will eminate from my Disco. It is more pronouced while the Rover is still cold and seems to go away after she has warmed up. Any thoughts?
Have you checked your fluid level yet? If you have a D1, they are known to leak from the hose, due to a loose bracket.

I agree check your level. It sounds like it is low.
Check your hoses for leaks, the original crimps suck on those hoses.
I found a small leak and replaced all of them at 70K.
