Stepper Motor Needs to be Cleaned Monthly!?!?

My stepper motor keeps getting clogged by oil. If I take it out once a month and clean it everything is fine. If not, it's the falling idle, no idle etc. It's obviously blowing excessive oil that way. What is the cause?

This is a '95 D1 with 170K on it. Any ideas on what to do? Is it a bigger issue? The truck still runs well, only leaks a little and does not even burn a 1/2 qt in 3,000 miles.

Thanks!

Does it have much blow by? I'd clean out the crankcase ventilation to make sure it's not pressurising the sump and blowing oil out into the plennum.

It had a new top end (including rings I think) at around 120K. Are new rings usually put in when they put on a new head and head gasket?

Thanks!

No, Ring are part of a bottom end.
Pull your oil fil cap while the truck is idleing and see if you get much pressure comeing out.

Where is the crankcase ventilation located? I think there is oil in the plenium.
If it's rings, maybe this engine is more toast than I thought. I can do 80MPH up hill w/o problems.

Thanks!
