T-case input gear & transmission output shaft

I just had to fight through this, and I snapped a few photos in case anyone is interested. I was just going to reseal the t-case, but the splines on the gear were so worn, I had to replace it. Since the new part is upgraded, the transmission output MUST be replaced at the same time to match the new part. This is the photo album.

Looks I may need to do the same.

Where can I get the input gear and is it easily changed?

The input gear can be removed through the PTO plate hole on the back of the T-case - so quite easy, but often the gearbox mainshaft needs replacing too, which is $$$ and not easy.

Thanks for the info. Is there a reccomended source for the gear etc, or do I get the required parts from a dealer?

AFAIK the gear is only available genuine (no poor quality aftermarket copies), so whoever can sell you the gear for the cheapest price would be the best supplier. You need to know which ratio T-case you have. But the parts supplier may be able to tell you from the VIN if nothing has been changed.
