I broke mine off. Any idea how to get the SOB out? It's broken about theree threads in.
Also, I assume this is a dealer only item to replace it?
Thanks,
Daniel

Which plug, the fill or drain? The fill plug is just pipe thread, should be able to get a replacement at any hardware store. The drain plug I'm not sure of the thread pitch, but it has a magnet on it. You can probably find a replacement at a good auto parts store (not for an LR application, but I don't think its really an oddball item).

To get it out--Weld a bolt onto it, and then unscrew it.

You can get the magnetic plug from EE: https://www.expeditionexchange.com/genuine/
Scroll down and look for Magnetic Drain Plug (FTC5208) $7.

As far as getting it out, I'd try to use a screw extractor (easy out). First you drill a hole then insert extractor and turn counter clockwise with a T-handle or the like. Make sure that you get one large enough to remove the plug, and make sure that its small enough not to damage the threads. I stripped the torx on my trans drain plug and used one to get it out. Got the new plug from the dealer, they had to order it but it came the next day.

Be very careful! The screw extractor is hardned steel and is very brittle, if you break it off in there you'll have a tough time getting it out (drill bits are softer).
