tach question

I have a new alternator, and the tach was wired for it. Now, the tach reads about 1,000 rpms low. Does the ****** shift based on the tach positions or speed with in the ****** itself? I thought it was all internal, but I thought I read somewhere it was linked to the tach.

You're right, its done internally. So tach shouldnt affect it.

Your new alternator probably has a pulley that is a different size than the stock. Easily fixed by changing the pulley to a size closer to stock.
