Well it's time for me to perform my first brake job on my '00 Disco II. I searched the forums and found some pretty good information about what people prefer and what is recommended, but I wanted to inquire a bit futher...

I am looking to do all four wheels and I am almost positive that I will need to replace rotors as well. Basically I am looking for the following:

1) What did you buy? Brake pad/Rotor brands? Any extra hardware?

2) Who did you buy from? Would you recommend them? Order Placed-Arrival Time?

3) How much did you spend total including shipping?

My goal is to find a place I can order everything at a good price and have it shipped to my door.

Thanks for your help in advance guys.

EBC grooved and dimpled rotors in the front, from TireRack, $150 delivered. OEM in the rear, can't remember where I got 'em, I think they were $130 delivered.

Ferrodo pads all around, AB, not sure of the price, talk to Eric.

99 D2 with BFG 33s, ABS disabled and the fucker stops like crazy.

The low bucks solution is a complete set of Lockheed/Delphi rotors, pads, and brake hardware for both axles for $250 from dap-inc.com.

Lockheed made the brake calipers for the D1, so I figured how bad could they be? I've got about 4000 miles on them and so far so good.

EBC dimpled and grooved all around for me. I also used their green SUV pads and the Pig's brakes are very quiet and kick out less brake dust. I ordered the complete set from AB which cost a total of $600, which included shipping to my house. AB had the stuff in stock and I got it two days later.

When you remove the alignment screw, be sure to use a #4 posi-drive bit. This will make life easier. ;)

UPDATE:

I found a good deal on pads and rotors at MotorCarsLTD. One word of wisdom in dealing with them...Place your order online. If you don't, you will not get the same low prices on the net. One of their reps said it was due to the low human involvement with the order processing. I've bought parts from them before, but I picked them up in Houston, so we'll see how the shipping goes. My order should ship out 9/14.

For OE pads(2 sets), rotors(2FR, 2R) and an air filter (thrown into the order because I needed it and it was only 9.38) it cost me 274.99 before 14.98 shipping and 23.93 tax.

Obviously people outside of Texas are going to pay more on shipping, but you won't have the tax which is always a benefit of shopping online. I will post another update when I recieve the goods to address the turn around time and quality.
