One of the salesguys at the local dealer said something interesting to me in regards to the upcoming release of the LR3. Since the LR3 will be a 7 seat 300hp vehicle priced well below the 5 seat 280hp Range Rover, he said he was expecting there to be a redesign(that possibly could include a 6/7 seat option) or at least a different engine. Has anyone heard anything that might verify this? Any rumors or ideas?

there was rumor of using a modified Jag V12 in the RR.

possibly because Ford had a good part of the LR3 design, they wanted to make sure "their" engine put out more power than the BMW engine in the RR.

it will be interesting especially with the RR Stormer in the mix as well.

part of the purchase agreement for Land Rover between Ford and BMW stipulated that BMW would continue to supply engines and other components for a specific period of time. Now that Ford's been in the throne for a few years, I'm sure that time is almost up. Ergo...New Range Rover!

In the late spring 2005, possibly an early introdiction for 2006 MY in North America, the Range Rover will gain the jag v8s in supercharged and non supercharged versions. The BMW TD6 will stay until replaced by a V8 diesel. Externally the only changes appear to be the front bumper and lights. Interior changes likely include better electronics.

06 should be out in may/june. like chris said it will have the jag-sourced 4.4, both normally aspirated and supercharged, as well as all the lr3 electric "goodies" like terrain response, rear locker, etc.. it will look like this..

Have you seen the new "Venture Cam" that is supposed to come with the 05 RR? Apparently one of the factory options is a wireless camera that has a range of 20-30ft or something, that displays the image back to the screen on the dash. The idea is that you can set this thing on a trail (if you were by yourself) and use it to spot the vehicle from inside. It is part of the new touch screen ICE system for 05.
