I am considering getting out of my disco and into an LR3 SE with 18' wheels. Does anyone have experience running an AT or MT on 18's? Does anyone have a clue what would fit under the wheel well on an LR3?

Sorry to hijack your thread,
but what island do you live on? I was just in waikiki and saw a new g4 by the hotel. Nice truck. I was amazed at how many disco's I saw out there. I counted 10 different discos on Kaui alone. I thought about stepping into the dealer and getting a land rover honalulu tire cover :D

Wow, that's cool. I actually have the only G4 out here, so that was me you saw. I work in sales at LR Honolulu, if you want a tire cover I can try to snag you one or at least get it for cost ($30 or so).

We sell (sold) a lot of Disco's out here, but I think mine, one guy in Kona, and one guy with a D1 in town are the only modified cars out here. Nobody dares take their precious trucks off-road, so we have never even held a wheels event.

Sadly, I'll be dumping the G4 in a month or two, my LR3 arrives shortly. I have to say it's the coolest car I have ever owned to date though.

Try Nittos

Don't know the exact size for an LR3 but the only AT I could find for my DII with 18 inch wheels were the Nitto TerraGrapplers.

I love them. Great on the road and great off the road. Give them a look.

There are currently no ATs in the proper size for the 18" rim. The only ATs available (the only offroad rubber available at all, in fact) are the Goodyear MT/R in 19" size for the HSE rims... And you have to import those from the UK which is pretty expensive. I'm hoping some other options arrive shortly, as these Goodyears suck

One possibility I am considering is 265/70/17, of which there are multiple A/T style choices (BFG AT, Goodyear MT/R). Approximately 31.6" vs. the stock 30". I am assuming 17" would work, as the TDV6s come with 17's in the UK... Unless the brakes have changed (I don't *think* they change between the TDV6 and V8, although this is not confirmed), 17s should fit fine in the US, too.

Will the 31.6" tires fit? No way to tell--they certainly look like they'd fit in Normal and High mode... Access Mode might be dicey, though.

definately let me know if you are successful. I have to wait until July for my car, so I am trying to figure out ahead of time if there are options. Also, does anyone know if you get a different wheel with the HD package? I picked a new one up from the dock today with 18" 5-spoke wheels that look nicer than the multi-spoke wheel that comes standard on the SE.

The LR GB website lists the brake rotors as the same size for the fronts @ 317mm, but the rears are listed in two different sizes, 325mm for the TDV6 and 350mm for the V8.
How that might affect wheels size choices i have no idea (its only a 2.5cm difference), but it could potentially be troublesome....

btw, How much is gas out in Hawaii?
