--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After several weeks of shooting the .17, I have fallen for this round. I've been regularly reaching out and touching targets at 160 yards no problem with my Marlin XT-17.
Now I find myself wanting to up grade to a CZ or Ruger 77/17.
I have heard some negatives with the Ruger, some either love it or hate it.
I have held several CZ's and though they are nice they seem more youth size than "full" size.
I was looking at the 453 American but my LGS says that none of his distributers have any.
I haven't had a chance to handle the Ruger yet.
I am also intrigued by the CZ 527 in .17 Remington but the cost of ammunition will probably make me pass on that.
Here's the XT-17 as it sits now.

I have a CZ 452 American in 22LR. Very nice piece for the money, used it to shoot Sporter Rifle league in the past. mounted a vintage Weaver T10 on it. There used to be a source of an aftermarket trigger spring kit for these but I'm not sure it still exists.

When my youngest was 7 or 8 I got him a CZ Scout for Christmas. A very nice gun. If their full size guns are as nice, and I didn't already have a Krag and Mozin, I wouldn't hesitate to get one.

Picked up and shot the Ruger today. Sighted in pretty well.
I put 100 rounds through it and shot out to 150 yards. The trigger could be a little lighter but I can fix that.
I'm happy with it.

Ruger 77/17 with Tasco 6-24x40 scope, Spec-Tech adjustable trigger and a bi-pod.
Found that it likes the CCI V-Max 17 grain bullets.
The adjustable tigger makes a world of difference with a nice clean break and only a hint of creep and no over travel. I may do some sear work to get rid of the creep.
