vacuum advance unit help

ok, this fell off a week ago, car was running fine without it, did my best to reinstall it. but now the idle rpms are lower and it was running rough. I didn't drive(didnt want to screw it up more ) it so i don't know how the power is, but whats wrong?

Sound like you have retarded the ignition timing, are you sure the rod is hooked on to the base plate in the distributor?
