Wow. That got off in the weeds a bit. But convinced me what I suspected all along. Find a very well maintained car at a price I can afford an expensive repair in.
Years ago I declined a LR Certified warranty on a D2 with 30k figuring all warranties were a rip off anyway. 60k later it overheated when the little electric fan went out and that’s like the one thing there wasn’t an idiot light for. Fixed it properly with a newly machined head (block was fine) and traded.
Picked up a very well maintained 2011 (oil changes every 5k) a few days ago and have not purchased an aftermarket warranty. I’ll self fund it.
