What depth of water can a stock D2 ford without a snorkel?

I'm not going by the D2 specs, but maybe somewhere around 30". Reguardless, the diff and hub bearings are going to get water in them before an air box.

ive had my D1 (no snorkel) in water over the hood before and it keep truckin through a creek, maybe i got lucky, but my guess is if you think you can ford it and its not very far to the other side you can. just dont let off of the gas!!

was the water level actually to the top of the hood? Or was it just the bow wave rolling over the hood? There can be a big difference between the two and making it or not.

over the hood, i nearly shit my pants, water started comming in through the air conditiner vents.

Went to one of those dealer off road events and crossed over a small pond. The water was up to the green land rover badge on the grill. At first had that bow wave over the hood, not a good feeling, but as you know best 4x4 by far. Stock D2 photo is to large to attach ( maybe in gallery under Disco II Marc G -Boars Head Ranch.) If there see red freelander surf over the pond he had light water damage inside.
